‘Sophie May has a secret.
One that she’s successfully kept for years. It’s meant that she’s had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But then she meets the gorgeous Billy – an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy’s glamorous – but ruthless – world.
Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?
Charming, heartwarming and utterly romantic, Billy and Me will completely capture your heart.’
So we have the story of a country girl who has stayed in the village all her life and runs the local tea shop for her dear friend Molly. Enter Billy – heart-throb that make all the girls swoon. Sophie and Billy are smitten with each other which is just so cute and not in a ‘making me want to throw up’ kind of way.
As I am a sucker for cliché romance this really was a cute read. There are many affable characters in this book that you may fall instantly in love with and not just the two mains. Molly is one I have a soft spot for and the young girls who come in and gossip!
If I am honest there is not a lot that is left for the imagination to conjure or anything thought-provoking however the book is cheerful and light.
Once again a good palette cleanser that is worth the read. If you don’t like chick lit then this may not be your slice of cake (pun intended!) but good for a snuggled up afternoon on the sofa with a cuppa.
