With 2015 fastly approaching the time has come to make the decision of what to wear. Have you chosen what you will be wearing to see the New Year in?
A couple of weeks ago Catherine and I were invited to the offices of Premier for a HBO gift wrapping masterclass. As I LOVE anything to do with Game of Thrones (geeky I know!) I jumped at the chance to see an expert at work wrapping a present that I would be ecstatic to receive as a gift (did the subliminal messaging work there guys?!). And yes that is a condom in the above picture! The TV series of Girls is quite raunchy in places but playful with it and the wrapping above perfectly portrays such characteristics. Personally I wanted the pouch for a clutch bag but sadly that isn’t possible.
Arona Khan is an international gift wrapping expert known for her scintillating methods that will make you want to actually preserve your wrapping paper this year rather than just ripping it off to get to your present. From Game of Thrones to a bottle of wine this lovely lady has a whole host of handy tips for us mere mortals of the wrapping world to jazz up our run of the mill gifts and make our recipients awestruck at our new and wonderful techniques. A big bow here and a little bauble there and poof the job is done!
Check out a couple of videos made by the lovelies at Premier for the afternoon session we attended.
How much do you want to snuggle under that lovely piece of fur.
As I have already (badly) wrapped my gifts next year will be the time that I test out this wonderful technique unless of course I bust my new moves for someones birthday – we shall see!
True Detective is a show that I have yet to watch, however that does not stop me loving this nifty idea of wrapping and all from scratch – Handmade wrapping right!
Arona has been kind enough to put together her five top gift wrapping tips that should see you through any tricky wrapping situation that comes your way. Just remember tips for life not just for Christmas!
The one thing I always have an issue with is making bows as like most I do not possess the power to grow tentacles in order to wrap well. Arona of course had a solution that consisted of making many loops and a small twist. Check out her webpage for some handy hints but for the process in motion check out this picture of Arona showing me how its done.
Since passing the legal drinking age many years ago a present that seems much appreciated by myself and friends is a lovely bottle of alcohol (I would say wine but that isn’t always the case!). Wrapping said present is always an issue as it is not an easy shape to navigate. Of course Arona was on hand for such troublesome wrapping.
Not being hungry at the time I did not indulge in a mince-pie but Catherine was happy with hers so they must have been very tasty.
How awesome is the finished product – a little tip that Arona gave was to put tissue paper inside the cellophane so the actual contents isn’t obvious to the recipient.
A couple of weeks ago myself and Catherine headed out to the Debenhams Spring/Summer collection launch and my, my we saw some gorgeous garments. Lots of pictures were taken and we also made some great contacts. This day was not only Fashion but Home also so this post is part one of two. Check out some of the great pieces that will be available early next year.
Check out the intricate detail and up close it is even more beautiful than what you can see in the picture.
Such understated beauty for a night out on the town.
How wonderful is this pattern – it can be dressed up and down for day and night although if the weather stays cold in the spring months a thick scarf and coat might be needed as the fabric is quite thin.
This Kimono is one of my two favourite bits from the show – sadly the picture of the dress I like the best did not come out well so this is number one for this post! How wonderful is this set – just imagine the shoes that can be worn with it.
Nightwear & Sleepwear
Both of these Kimono gowns were so delicate to touch and would feel fantastic on over a slip or sexy nightgown. My favourite of the two is the first as it can be matched up with a lot more.
The colours are spectacular as are the designs.
Do you have a favourite?
So last week the man in my life took me to Winter Wonderland (at my request of course!) and after trundling around in the cold for what seemed like forever and a day we indulged in Glühwein and penguin tossing. That may sound weird to some but it really was fun and I ended up walking away with a minion. Lucky me right! Check out some of the pictures from the event – it was incredibly romantic and very enjoyable. We even got a picture of us both together (You can see it on my instagram if you are a follower!).
This seems to be the welcome sign – however we found it at the back of the park!
We both love a minion so I couldn’t resist snapping this!
Both being coffee fiends we decided to caffeinate ourselves early on in the night.
Sadly this stall really was lacking both customer services and decently made coffee.
Oh how I yearn for my cafetiere at home!
Not being a great lover on Marzipan I did not purchase any of this delicious looking over priced confectionery.
Once again couldn’t resist taking a picture.
A fairground of many colours and sizes was made available for all to enjoy (at a price of course!)
Tokens were available on every corner so you really could not miss out.
Looking back I wish I went on the bumper cars – when I was a youngster they were always my favourite!
What was your favourite fairground ride?
Getting into the festive spirit a bit more this big guy was on display for all to see and pose with.
This looked just beautiful and everyone coming in looked impressed.
Did you go in if you were there?
On our travels we came across this game of wack a penguin – although it looks like it is called Flipping’ Penguins!
It was a lot of fun as the object of the game was to hit the little blue weight thing and propel a penguin onto one of the moving icicles.
After a few goes I managed to get a penguin onto the main centre ice patch and cheers were had.
Of course I was more interested in my prize – A MINION (Finally!)
Let the minion adventures begin!
Isn’t this stall just gorgeous. The Colicci brand oozes style and class – check it out HERE
We really should have got the delicious looking Churros from the Colicci stall but at the time we just weren’t hungry. Such a shame as these were quite greasy but the novelty factor lasted a little while.
Phil (our minion buddy!) seemed to enjoy them!
How beautiful are these decorations – so christmassy obviously!
Once again Phil is partaking in the fun and some delicious Mulled Wine.
As mentioned before we managed to get a picture of us both!
Luckily there were no photo bombers behind us
(Phil was terrible to the people in front of us who had their picture taken – bad minion!)
On our way out I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this beautiful arch as a goodbye to such a wonderful evening.
What a lovely date night right!!
