#IMWAYR – Blogmas Day 22

Books, Reading, It's Monday What Are You Reading?, #IMWAYR,

Another Monday and just a few days until Christmas – how are we all doing? With most of my Christmas shopping done I have one more present to buy and it is a tricky one so I will get on with this post and crack on with my shopping!

I’m almost finished with this audio book with about one hour to go. If you have read or listened to this book I would love to hear what you think.
There are some great reviews out there – check them out:

Kevin @ I Heart Chick Lit

Laura’s Haven

Tara @ Running ‘n’ Reading

I am hoping to finish listening to this book mid-week so I can crack on with something else very important that I want to read more than having to read! A bit of a secret but I’m hoping all will be revealed soon!

Life

Things are great on the living front at the moment – well apart from my split location. Between mine and himself I feel like I’m being spread a little thin on the ground but I am sure it will pass. Work is hard but as I am off for the Christmas period I can’t really complain.

Over the past couple of weeks I have picked up a few new bedding sets and this one is just so cute.
Don’t ya think?!
Clean Brushes, Real Techniques, Beauty, Brushes, Make Up Brushes, Make Up
As I have very sensitive skin I have to keep my make up brushes clean and do it as often as possible without ruining them. As I do not wear make up every day I clean my brushes every two weeks and this week I managed to get a snap of my squeaky clean brushes.

happy, quotes, happy days
Himself and I popped over to a friend’s house on Sunday and found this in their bathroom and just had to snap it. At this current moment in time I am incredibly happy and this caption is exactly how I feel so why not ‘spread the love’ so to speak.

Beauty

My skin has really been giving me problems lately which is most likely due to the crazy weather changes. From the bitter cold outside going to the warmth of inside (my house is like the tropics!) my skin flares up and I find my skin reacting like crazy. My medicine cabinet seems to have more anti-histamine in it than the regular hay fever season and it is truly annoying.

Beauty, Skincare, Dry Skin, Skin, Aqueous Cream, Cream, Winter, Eczema, Superdrug

As I mentioned last week this has been a staple in my daily routine as it really has saved my skin from falling off like a snake. Disgusting but true!

Ginzing, Origins, Skincare, Face Scrub, Beauty, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

With House of Fraser throwing such heavy discounts around before Christmas I thought it would only be right to treat myself and as I use this on a regular basis I am extremely glad for the top up.

What are you using to keep your skin smooth in such harsh weather.

#IMWAYR – Blogmas Day 15

Books, Reading, It's Monday What Are You Reading?, #IMWAYR,

Blogmas Day 15 – can you believe it?! December is one of those months that always flies by for me. With all the festivities under way and planning for the actual day this month is one that is maximum stress (on the wallet also!) coupled with enjoyment – the line is fine my friends!

How are you getting on with your December so far?

Still listening and I have to say the book has taken a turn for the better. To start with I was slightly irritated but it was my wrapping companion the other night and I really am enjoying the story despite it being über girly – but that is chick lit from Kinsella for you.

This week is the works Christmas party and there are so many options whirring around in my head. Do I wear a skirt and top, dress, trousers? First choice at the moment is skirt and top as there are a few options to choose from. Check out some items that are on the list.

As the cold weather sets in my skin seems to have an attack of the crazies and go back to the times of when I was an infant. It is never fun being lathered in cream in the bath but I am starting to appreciate the cool sensation as an adult. Aqueous cream seems to be the only thing that helps and I got a great deal at Superdrug so bought two big tubs. At £2.99 per tub and buy one get one half price I figured it was silly not to buy two considering the amount I use daily.

Life

Lord of the Rings, LOTR, Vision, Characters

Date night this week was at home this week watching Lord of the Rings – I am eager to watch the films and finish them with thought of understanding a bit more of the Hobbit film number 2. The first Hobbit film was wonderful however I felt a little bit out of the LOTR’s loop! Despite watching them all a couple of times I have never really paid attention. Time to concentrate!

After sleeping with the heating off for the past couple of months there seems to be a build up of mildew by my window so after scrubbing like crazy and warming the place up the room was moved around the sheets changed. In love with these sheets right now – lights went up too but pictures will be up on Instagram this week.

#IMWAYR – Blogmas Day 8

Books, Reading, It's Monday What Are You Reading?, #IMWAYR,

It’s Blogmas Day 8 people and I am on the slow road to Christmas celebrations. This is my favourite time of year and I fully intend to enjoy it to the max. The decorations are going up and treats are almost ready for the oven (well kind of!). How are you preparing for the festive season and what are you reading?

Reading

Shopaholic, Shopaholic to the Stars, Sophie Kinsella, Books, Women's Fiction, Fiction, Chick Lit, Reading, Blog A Book Etc, Fay

Thanks to Audible this is what I am currently listening to.
Sophie Kinsella has been a favourite of mine for many years and if I am honest got me into reading a lot more with her fabulous shopaholic series. This one however so far has not impressed me – I’m unsure whether it is because I am listening to it and don’t really like the narrators whiny voice.
We shall see!

Coast, SS15, Spring, Summer, 2015, Fashion, Skirts, Monochrome, Black, White, Stripes, Blog A Book Etc, Fay, Press

After checking out the new collection for Coast this is one of my favourite pieces of the collection. You may have guessed as this has not only been on my Instagram but also on my Facebook and made it to the press day post.

This has been my skin saviour this week, with all the cold weather I have been taking my daily cleansing routine a lot more seriously. After the first use my face felt fresh and dewy. Have you used this?

REVIEW: The Snow Globe by Sheila Roberts – Blogmas Day 3

the snow globe, sheila roberts, books, reading, blog a book etc, fay, blog tour, fiction, christmas, festive

Back of the Book

‘When Kiley Gray discovers an enchanting snow globe in an antique shop, she has no idea how much her life is about to change. For years, the snow globe has passed from generation to generation, somehow always landing in the hands of a person in special need of a Christmas miracle.

Kiley could use a miracle herself. This year, all she wants for Christmas is someone to love. A hopeful shake leads her on an adventure that makes a believer out of her. When Kiley shares the story of the snow globe with her best friends-two women with problems of their own-they don’t believe it. But they’re about to discover that at Christmastime, sometimes the impossible becomes possible and miracles really do come true.’

My Thoughts

Romance, festive cheer and a good dash of hope on the side. Sheila Roberts surely does know how to get you in the Christmas spirit. Kiley and her two friends Suzanne and Alison are like a triangle with extremely pointy edges when it comes to personalities. The three friends are out shopping when Kiley recently out of work finds that she really does need a miracle right about now. Whilst perusing an antique (Junk – in Suzanne’s words!) shop she comes across the delightfully festive snow globe and can’t take her eyes off of it. Despite being way out of her ‘budget’ after speaking to the shop owner and listening to the story there is no question that she simply ‘has to have it’. The deal done and snow globe in hand Kiley and her girlfriends continue with their day. Kiley has told her friends the beguiling story and despite the women having their own issues that we find out later in the book one remains incredibly sceptical about the back story of the stunning ornament. Surely a snow globe cannot make miracles happen? Well think again and read on my learned friend.

Let’s dissect a little more . . .

Kiley – completely obsessed with her ex boyfriend however after not fully getting over her current obsession she bumps into a hot hunky stranger who appears in her snow globe and falls madly in love and marries him. Now I am not saying that it is not possible to fall for someone and get married extremely quickly but I would make sure that I was over my ex first – would you not?

Allison – Losing a relative that you are close to is definitely one of the most upsetting things you can go through. After losing her grandmother – the lynch-pin in her messed up family – Allison meets a random old lady (that she saw in the snow globe!) and seems to get over her bereavement for her dear relative pretty quickly. Once again not staying fully on the negative side of things – it is wonderful to find someone out there that reminds you of the good traits of loved ones but after such a long grieving process being instantly attached to an elderly individual because you saw her in a snow globe is a bit far-fetched.

Suzanne – This character did it for me – where there is a thin line between like/dislike Suzanne was pulling on the ropes for me. Her home life suffered because she cared so much what others thought of her and she worked herself into an early grave to provide unnecessary trinkets for an already spoilt child. Her husband was beginning to resent her but only after breaking her ankle/leg did she slow down and look at her life. Not really a near death experience but whatever floats your boat. Suzanne’s story out of all three saw me thinking that Sheila Roberts really did want to link this to reality but had a very loose grip.

Despite many negative issues this book is definitely full of the fluffy goodness you want out of a festive romantic fiction read. For those sickly romantic christmas lovers out there this book is most definitely for you. That being said and sounding quite negative I would like to find out what happens next as the book was definitely left with room for continuation.

Overall an incredibly relatable read as the problems the friends face were those that every day people go through on a daily basis. This made the book readable however I became slightly sick of this reality – this may just be me as when I read a book I like to completely get lost in the fictional world created not take a long hard look at reality.
