The Perfect Girl Body

The forever long search for the perfect girl body continues – but are there right and wrong ways to go about it? Of course! This blog post is a little out there for me but a recent instagram incident really pissed me off (sorry!) and I just had to put it out there.

With well over 8 MILLION hits for the search Anorexia circulating the internet, let alone over 16 MILLION  hits for the search ‘Anorexia Tips’ which include pages/blogs/sites giving tips on how to achieve Anorexia and get that ‘slim appearance you so want’  . It is absolutely ridiculous how the internet is so wide-spread that there is no protection for the younger and more impressionable generation against such ridiculous propaganda for such a tender subject. It is not down to the internet providers to protect the users however the regulators of such social networks like Facebook, Instagram and even WordPress to enable its users to promote such damaging behaviour is not only dangerous but contemptible.

Google search, Hits, Anorexia Tips, Anorexia, How to be Anorexic, The Perfect Girl Body, Anorexia, Eating Disorders, Behaviour, Behavior, Food, Skinny, Illness, Disease, Mental Health, Mental Illness, Bulimia, Body Image, Media causes eating disorders, how to help anorexia, how are eating disorders treated, help with anorexia, eating disorders in women, eating disorders in men, eating disorder behaviours, attention seeking, instagram, social media, propaganda, anorexia therapy, all types of eating disorders, anorexia can kill you

It is safe to say that Anorexia, Bulimia and many other mental disorders are widely misunderstood. I say this mainly from the reaction I received from posting a picture and commenting on instagram. Yes I will hold my hands up that my words in the caption were harsh (click on the image for the link!) – however I strongly stand by my comment as it is justified anger towards the amount of idiocy allowed with regards to such a tender subject and the provocation of anger that this stupid girl obviously does not realise this image insights.

Apparently heading towards’ The Perfect Girl Body’. . .

If this person was seriously suffering from Anorexia would she be posting her body on a social networking platform. As you can see below the signs and symptoms of this sad illness indicate otherwise. And such signs and symptoms are not made up however carefully researched and published by the NHS. There are a lot of people out there ready to slate the NHS however they are there to help and with information like this out there for all to read think before you insult them!

With such a serious subject like mental illness as a wide umbrella term for other such illnesses like Anorexia, Bulimia, Bipolar, Depression people should really take a step back and think responsibly if it is right to post such images with serious negative connotations for the general public to view. Especially as these days the target audience age group for social media platforms is getting younger and younger.

The comment I received on the photo that I copied and pasted is the reason for this post as the author suggested that I was likening Anorexia and the person posting to telling a person with Depression to cheer up.

The next comment of which I am thankful for was from an individual who seems to understand that people who suffer from any such mental illness do not in fact want to publicise the fact that they are ill but instead they prefer to hide away from the public eye and be as private as possible. Check out the comment.

This is exactly why Anorexia can be such dangerous illness with rapid weight loss, decrease of bodily functions due to malnutrition and even a spiral into deep depression – when this is private a sufferer is in danger of serious illness even death however this is not to say that posting your ‘illness’ on instagram for glorification of your stupidity and desire for attention and to be skinny should be allowed.

Following this post I received an email from Instagram stating that they were worried about ME! Check it out – you might have to click on the image to make it bigger! It is in all honesty the most ridiculous email that I have ever received and believe that the small amount of time they took to copy and paste that from their ‘self help’ section they should have sent it to the wannabe Anorexia girl in the picture.

There are a couple of my close friends who probably do not agree with my posting of that picture on instagram and most likely never going to comment due to the uproar it might cause them personally for putting their real opinion out there but guys – FUCK IT. Think about the young ones that are growing up being influenced by idiots like that. It is truly sickening.

Now on a lighter note I feel that this song – well the chorus is appropriate!

There may be more added to this post with further research.
